Oh my f—ing God, the Tesla Cybertruck, arguably the hottest automobile in the world right now (for better or worse), is coming to Indonesia in 2022.

Of course, we all know about the Cybertruck thanks to that embarrassing fail during its armor glass demo, during which Tesla CEO Elon Musk blurted out the expletive above in mild shock.

The news of Cybertruck’s planned arrival in Indonesia was shared by leading exotic supercar dealer Prestige Image Motorcars, one of the few official Tesla importers in the country.

“We’re planning for 2022. We haven’t gauged the market for it yet. That’s why we’re going to stock it up first. But, many have already demanded it,” Prestige Image Motorcars CEO Rudy Salim told iNews.

As for the price of the all-electric vehicle, Rudy said that it won’t differ much from the Tesla Model 3, which has a IDR1.5 billion (US$107,000) price tag, before tax.

Will the Cybertruck be popular in Indonesia? Well, given its estimated price tag, which puts it in the league of luxury cars, it’s unlikely that it will serve as nothing more than a novelty vehicle for those with money to burn. For instance, we absolutely cannot imagine the Cybertruck hauling durian from pasar (traditional market) to pasar — at least not in the near future.

The Cybertruck is set to begin production in late 2021, and Musk claimed that there have been 250,000 pre-orders for it as of late November — days after its ill-fated reveal.

When the Cybertruck comes to Indonesia, we hope whoever’s rich enough to buy it will have a couple of metal balls handy to see if Tesla has fixed the truck’s armor glass by then.
