Triyono, a 51-year-old former school principal at primary school SDN 3 Pabuaran Tumpeng, could face a maximum of 15 years in prison for allegedly sexually abusing 12 students at the school.
Triyono allegedly sexually abused seven boys and five girls at the school. He called them individually to his office to ask them if they’ve ever had sexual relations. Particularly with the boys, Triyono ordered them to pull down their pants to show him proof that they haven’t had sexual intercourse at such a young age.
Triyono admitted to the police that he simply wanted to know what his students were getting up to.
“He was suspicious so he questioned the students. His mistake was making the boys pull down their pants,” said Abdulgani, Triyono’s lawyer, after a court hearing as quoted by Tempo today.
Abdulgani added that the sexual abuse did not go beyond that.
Regardless, what Triyono admitted to doing to his students is wrong on so many levels, and we feel that 15 years in prison is nowhere near sufficient punishment.
