Yep, we might as well get used to staying in the air-conditioned indoors from a while, as it seems the dreaded summer has arrived in Jakarta.
The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that Jakarta has been experiencing temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius recently. It’s been so hot, in fact, the temperature in the city almost reached 40 degrees at its peak yesterday.
“Right now it’s summer and it’s hot, there are fire risks so we’re formulating [how to] anticipate against them,” said Denny Wahyu, head of the Jakarta BPBD, as quoted by Berita Satu today.
Denny said the BPBD is also coordinating with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to see if the recent temperature rise was affected by the heat wave that’s hitting India at the moment, sadly killing over 2,000 people so far.
Whatever the reason behind the Jakarta heat, it’s important to keep yourself hydrated and to stay inside air-conditioned rooms as much as possible.
