Septi Aulia Ramadhan, a 7-year-old primary school student, died a tragic death today after she was hit by a speeding Metro Mini bus in Koja, North Jakarta.
Septi was being driven by her mother, Rasmi, on a motorcycle to school this morning. When they were on Jalan Plumpang Semper, a Metro Mini bus tried to overtake a truck, but instead brushed against the motorcycle.
“When they fell off the motorcycle, the child fell towards the middle of the road and was ran over by the Metro Mini. The mother fell to the left side of the road along with the motorcycle,” said Sudarmanto, head of the Traffic Unit at the North Jakarta Police, as quoted by Berita Satu today.
Septi immediately died after being run over. Rasmi was only lightly injured from the incident.
“The driver [of the Metro Mini] got out of the vehicle and ran towards Jalan Bendungan Hilir, which was crowded at the time with people shopping. We’re still hunting down the driver,” Sudarmanto added.
Septi’s body was taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy.
