Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang is set to limit its operations to terminals 2D, 2E, and 3 in a bid to ensure efficiency in light of additional procedures required during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Airport management firm PT Angkasa Pura II said the entirety of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2F will not be operational, with Executive Director Muhammad Awaluddin saying that operational pattern and effectiveness, as well as ongoing renovation at the airport, were taken into consideration.
“The adjustment of the operational pattern has been done by closing the Terminal 1 and 2F. On the other hand, we saw Terminal 2D and 2E as well as Terminal 3 to be the most capable of accommodating the passenger flow with dynamic departure and arrival procedures amid the pandemic,” Awaluddin said in an official statement yesterday.
He added that the closure of Terminal 1 and 2F is temporary and they could reopen at any time, taking into account any development related to the coronavirus.
Soekarno-Hatta is also undergoing some renovations, particularly at Terminal 1C and 2F. This is the first revitalization project since Soekarno-Hatta Airport started operating in 1985, as the transport hub seeks to double its passenger traffic to 18 million.
Terminal 2D is used for domestic flights operated by Citilink, Sriwijaya, Airfast Indonesia, Trigana Air, NAM Air, and Xpress Air, while Terminal 2E hosts Batik Air, Lion Air, and AirAsia Indonesia starting tomorrow.
Terminal 3 serves national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia for domestic and international flights, as well as international routes for Lion Air. The terminal also serves international flights from All Nippon Airways (ANA), Cathay Pacific, Ethiopian Airlines, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Thai Lion Air.
