What is the thing you should most worry about when you’re flying? Bad airline food? Turbulence?
The correct answer, of course, is snakes on your plane.
It’s a threat that exists beyond the realm of profanity-laced Samuel L. Jackson aviation thrillers, as the passengers on Garuda Indonesia flight GA657 from Jayapura, Papua, to Jakarta found out yesterday.
A snake was caught crawling around the plane’s cabin to the shock of passengers, but fortunately this one was all on its own.
This incident was confirmed by Sheila Indira, senior public relations manager for Garuda Indonesia, today.
“Yes it’s true there was a snake in the cabin of the aircraft,” Sheila told Warta Kota.
The incident put the passengers into a panic, but according to Sheila the snake was immediately apprehended by airline personnel.
No word yet on how the snake managed to get on the plane yet (apparently nobody at security noticed the reptilian skeleton on the x-ray scanner?) but we would be remiss if we did not include this obligatory movie clip.
