The three-story school building was completely engulfed in flames thought to have been caused by an electrical failure on the third floor.
The school’s principal, Pua Magarani, said she doesn’t know how her students can continue their studies, especially those students who are due to take part in the National Exam for middle school students on May 4.
“This school has 861 students, with 315 grade 3 students who are to take part in the National Exam. I will coordinate with the Education Agency to help provide them with a temporary learning space,” Pua said, as quoted by Merdeka today.
The school’s 25 rooms, including computer labs, science labs, as well as the canteen were completely destroyed by the fire.
We hope the government can find a solution for SMPN 65’s students soon so they won’t be at too much of a disadvantage in their preparations for the National Exam.
