​Shooting leaves one wounded in attempted motorcycle robbery in Bekasi

Sri Yidianto, a 41-year-old local of Jatiasih, Bekasi, almost lost his life last night as he attempted to foil an attempt to steal his motorcycle.

Two motorcycle robbers intended to steal Sri’s motorcycle, which was parked in front of his house. But the robber’s attempt failed when the motorcycle alarm sounded.

“It was an attempted robbery, but the suspects failed to steal the victim’s motorcycle,” said Jatiasih Police Chief Ardyaningsih today, as quoted by Tempo

Sri screamed when he saw the attempted robbery. The robbers decided against stealing the motorcycle and were about to run away. Unfortunately, one of them was carrying a firearm and shot at Sri twice. One of the bullets pierced Sri’s back, though it wasn’t a fatal shot.

Sri was taken to the Kramatjati Police Hospital in East Jakarta, whereas the two robbers are still at large.

The police suspect that the robbers were in possession of a handmade firearm.
