The West Jakarta Police is looking into an alleged sexual harassment incident involving a security guard at an apartment in Cengkareng, West Jakarta who was caught on camera forcibly kissing a female courier.
The video of the CCTV recording has circulated widely online, in which the suspect, who’s identified as 48-year-old K, was in his security guard uniform. He entered the room where the victim was sitting, and he approached her for a chat.
The suspect then touched the woman’s shoulder, which led her to try to push him away. Shortly after, the suspect leaned down to kiss her. The victim, who appeared shocked, dismissed him once again before pointing to a CCTV camera installed in a corner of the room. The suspect looked at the CCTV camera briefly, briefly conversed with the woman before she got up and left him in the room alone.
The incident reportedly occurred on June 29.
West Jakarta Police spokesman Taufik Ikhsan confirmed that K forced himself on the victim in order to get a kiss.
The victim, after reporting the incident to the West Jakarta Police, received psychological counseling from the Integrated Center for Women and Children Empowerment office (P2TP2A). Police said today that the security guard is being questioned by authorities.
Joko Dwi Harsono, who heads West Jakarta Police’s Crime Investigation unit, said that the victim and the suspect know each other due to the proximity of their workplaces. He said that the sexual harassment has seriously impacted the victim.
“The victim is traumatized, she’s frightened and traumatized,” Joko said.
