Saffety Reading: Netizens mock policeman for typo and grammatical error

Netizens have been scrutinizing the police on social media lately, mainly through amateur videos that show police officers allegedly breaking the law themselves. But this latest police mistake isn’t quite outrageous – it’s just rather embarrassing.

Twitter user @danrem posted a photo on March 31 that showed a police officer riding a motorcycle while wearing a hi-vis vest.

That’s right, the policeman encourages you to follow ‘Saffety Reading’ (as opposed to ‘Safety Riding’) procedures, because god knows books can be dangerous. And all you pedants out there will also have noticed the incorrect use of the word ‘save’ on the bottom text of the officer’s vest (should’ve been ‘safe’).

To be fair, we don’t believe that police officers in Indonesia have to take any sort of English proficiency test before they can join the force, so grammatical errors such as these are understandable.

But netizens can’t pass up any opportunity to poke fun at the police.

Now the police is calling for us to read safely. Who’s stupid here, the person who ordered [the vest] or the person who printed the text?

He’s still learning English, please understand hahahaha

If you want to read, go to the library. It’s a lot safer there.
