A Russian woman was catcalled by a Blue Bird taxi driver in South Jakarta, a viral clip shows, prompting an apology from the transportation giants.

The clip, posted by the victim on Instagram as a story, has been shared by third parties on other platforms as a condemnation towards the driver. It shows the woman walking on the sidewalk in what appears to be Kuningan while the driver slows his car to turn his attention to the foreigner.

“Very nice! Very nice!” the driver shouts at the woman while laughing.

The woman appears to shrug off the catcalling and motioning with her hand that the driver is crazy before she stops filming.

Blue Bird has issued an apology and says it is looking to sanction the driver pending an internal investigation. The company says that, having been founded by a woman, Mutiara Fatimah Djokosoetono, it will take the case seriously.

“Blue Bird was founded by a mother, so we have a strong reason to uphold norms and behaviors that respect women,” Blue Bird operations chief Agus Sulistiyono said today.

Coconuts has reached out to the catcalling victim for comment.
