Get out your US dollar banknotes and head to the moneychanger, as this is quite possibly the best time to exchange the US dollar into the rupiah.
We’ve always suspected this would happen after a steady weakening of the rupiah in the past year, and now the rupiah – US dollar exchange rate has gone past the Rp 13,000 mark per US dollar.
According to Bloomberg, Indonesia’s currency is being traded at Rp 13,028 at the time of writing. This is, of course, prone to fluctuate during the day.
While this is great news for those in possession of a lot of US dollars, we hope that the rupiah can strengthen soon to prevent an economic meltdown in Indonesia.
