As the rainy season comes to a close, we can’t think of a better time to start getting back in shape. One of the best ways to push yourself to the pinnacle of your cardiovascular fitness is to train for and take part in a competitive race.
So with plenty of time to whip yourself back into your shape, these are the races Jakarta’s runners can look forward to in March:
HiLo Teen Running Challenge (March 8)

As the name suggests, this race is exclusive to 13 to 19 year olds. But this is more than just a 5K fun-run – there are fun challenges along the race route such as the ‘Runfie Challenge’, where participants are encouraged to take wacky selfies during the race.
There are also prizes to be given away for best costume that shows off the participants’ personality and creativity.

Jakarta Free Spirit Running Club Series – Jakarta International School (March 8)

The second of a series of three 5K races by the Jakarta Free Spirit Running Club will take place at the Jakarta International School. The club boasts Jakarta’s oldest and one of the its most well attended races, so expect a lot of fit competition here.
Aside from the 5K main race, there will also be fun races for families and children.

Leprosy Polka dot Run (March 15)

Race 5K or 10K in this charity event and look good in a colorful polka dot t-shirt while you pound the pavement. The race is being organized by Teach for Indonesia and Binus University, with proceeds going to help raise awareness and combat leprosy in Indonesia.
That said, this is a competitive race. Overall winners in each category will receive a cash price of Rp 1.5 million.

Anyo Gold Ribbon Charity Run (March 15)

To commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day 2015 , Yayasan Anyo Indonesia from the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Organisations is holding a 5K charity run in Monas. Proceeds from the race will go towards the procurement of 1,000 ophthalmoscopes (eye cancer detection tool) that will be given to clinics Indonesia-wide.

Nusantara Run (March 22)

This is a 5K race that is as non-competitive as they come. There are two race categories: a 5K fun run and a 5K “thematic” fun run where participants have to dress up in a traditional costume. Once the race is out of the way, indulge in mouth-watering ‘nusantara’ delights at the event’s culinary bazaar.

Pocari Sweat Run Indonesia 2015 (March 29)

This race by the sports drink brand Pocari Sweat could well be one of the biggest and most popular in Jakarta this year. After all, registration for all of its four 5K and 10K categories are already sold out more than a month before the race. That said, if you’re desperate to take part, be on the lookout just in case the organizers reopen registration due to the high demand for the race.
