Robber sleeps with another man in a hotel then steals his car

Be careful of having one night stands with people you just met online – some of them could be looking for more than a good time.

Take the case of a victim who claimed he met a 36-year-old man, SYR, through social media. The two flirted (or “swiped right”, we assume) and eventually wound up at a hotel in Central Jakarta, where they went all the way. Afterwards, while the victim was taking a shower, SYR got what he was really after.

“In the shower, the victim was locked in from the outside. [The victim’s] clothes and car were stolen so the victim couldn’t escape,” said Krishna Murti, director of Public Crimes at Jakarta Police, as quoted by Metro TV yesterday.

The next day, the police arrested SYR trying to sell the car, a Daihatsu Xenia, for just Rp 15 million. SYR was arrested with two accomplices, ADT and NR.

The police suspect that the robbery was planned by the three suspects. They could all face up to 12 years in prison for theft.
