Danish Queen Margrethe II is set to visit Indonesia on October 21-24 to strengthen bilateral ties and to mark 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
But aside from all that boring stuff, the queen is most notably going to inaugurate a children’s park (RPTRA – because even parks are abbreviated in Indonesia) in Jakarta, and she has a special present in store for the kids.
“The queen of Denmark will come to inaugurate an RPTRA. She will also give out Lego blocks at an RPTRA in Cililitan or Cideng,” said Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, as quoted by Metro TV today.
In case you didn’t know, here’s a fun fact: Lego was invented by a Danish carpenter in 1930. So the queen couldn’t have picked a more apt present for our kids.
On a related note, the Jakarta provincial government is in the process of building 54 RPTRAs this year and are planning to build 150 more next year. Ahok said funding for the construction of these parks is being covered by various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
