Jakarta is hosting the 60th Asian-African Conference starting on April 10, so the city is doing its best to try to leave a good impression on the delegates coming to the event.
The Provincial Government is speeding up road works on Jakarta’s main roads, specifically those roads that connect the Jakarta Convention Center – where the conference will take place – to the 18 hotels that will accommodate the delegates.
“Road works will be carried out on roads taken by guests of the state,” said Suko Wibowo, head of Jakarta’s Roads Maintenance Agency, as quoted by Vivanews today.
The roads in question are Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan MH Thamrin, and Jalan Sudirman in Central Jakarta, as well as Jalan Gatot Subroto and Jalan HR Rasuna Said in South Jakarta.
We say bring on more of these state conferences and summits, if it means the government will actually pay attention to the state of our roads.
