Indonesians aren’t just among the biggest users of mobile technology in the world. There are many keenly creative minds in the country who have are utilizing the latest advancements in mobile technology. Just look at all the awesome Indonesian-made mobile apps like these ones.
Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama wants to provide a space for these “gadget” aficionados to be productive in Jakarta – in the form of an app-making center.
“We’re trying to re-acquire a UMKM (small and micro businesses center) mall behind Thamrin City shopping center. We want to transform it to be a place for those who like mobile apps,” Ahok said yesterday, as quoted by Metro TV.
“So young people can hang out there and brainstorm [ideas] and share with each other about things related to making mobile apps.”
Crucially, Ahok said the mall would be equipped with free internet.
“What’s important is that the Wi-Fi will have a speed of 8 Gbps so people will be happy to go there,” he said.
So we’re imagining this app factory would be kind of like Mal Ambasador, only that it would be filled with electronics and that there will be free ultra fast internet. We don’t even build our own apps, but we’d hang out there for sure, if it actually gets built.
