Gibran Rakabuming (R) with his father President Joko Widodo (L) and mother Iriana on the day of Jokowi’s presidential inauguration
President Joko Widodo, who is seemingly having a rather horrid time leading the nation, may soon have a reason to smile again – his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming (27), is reportedly going to get married very soon.
FX Rudy Hadiatmo, who was deputy to Jokowi when Jokowi was the mayor of Solo, said he heard the news during the president’s low-key visit to his hometown last week.
“When I picked him up (Jokowi), he said he had to tend to a family matter. He said he had to take care of Gibran,” Rudy told Liputan 6 yesterday evening.
“Maybe [the wedding will be held] before Ramadan (June 17), but I don’t know the date. He (Jokowi) knows for sure.”
Rudy added that he doesn’t even know who will become Jokowi’s daughter-in-law, but he’s sure that Gibran will soon get married.
According to Rappler Indonesia, Gibran will marry 26-year-old Selvi Ananda, a local beauty queen from the first family’s hometown of Solo. Not much is known about Gibran’s future bride other than her being crowned Putri Solo in 2009.
Gibran is known for being extremely guarded about his private life. He once famously yelled at journalists for spreading negative rumors about him on the day of his father’s inauguration as the president of Indonesia.
