​President Jokowi to attend Lee Kuan Yew’s funeral in Singapore

President Joko Widodo will pay his final respects to Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, who passed away in Singapore at the age of 91 this morning.

“According to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, President Jokowi will attend the state funeral in Singapore,” said Minister of State Secretariat Pratikno, as quoted by Detik today. 

Lee Kuan Yew’s funeral is expected to take place on Sunday, March 29.

President Jokowi is currently in Japan for a state visit. He is due to visit China and Malaysia over the week before attending Lee Kuan Yew’s funeral in Singapore.

Previously, the Indonesian government, through its Foreign Ministry, expressed their deepest condolences at Lee Kuan Yew’s passing. Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla also described Lee Kuan Yew as an “inspiration to Asia.”
