Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil
President Joko Widodo is once again a trending topic in social media – all because somebody thought he wasn’t the president of Indonesia.
President Jokowi visited Bandung to inspect the city’s preparations to host the upcoming Asian-African Conference yesterday. There, he was accompanied by Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil.
Crowds gathered as the president and the mayor were walking through the streets of Bandung. Achmad Iman, who was among the crowd, recalled a funny story on his Path account involving a clueless German tourist.
You may have noticed in the photo above that Jokowi wasn’t wearing the kopiah. Ridwan Kamil, on the other hand, was. So the German tourist thought the mayor of Bandung was the “handsome” and “cool” Indonesian president.
It was a small mistake by the German (if the story ever happened at all), but it was one that raised some questions about netizen’s support for Jokowi. This issue has become a trending topic on Twitter with many expressing the wish that Ridwan Kamil was our president while criticising Jokowi.
