By their own admission, police say they are monitoring the internet for pornographic content in Indonesia, which recently led to the arrest of two young women in the Greater Jakarta Area.
The West Jakarta Police announced to the press yesterday the capture of 21-year-old LS and 19-year-old PP. According to the police, their cyber patrol was monitoring an app synonymous with sexy live streams when they caught the pair dancing naked for an online audience.
LS was arrested in Kebayoran, South Jakarta while PP was arrested in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang.
“We confiscated 14 items as evidence, including the clothes they wore during the live stream, a phone, a book, and pornographic screenshots,” West Jakarta Police Crime Investigation Unit Chief Commissioner Andri Kurniawan said.
In addition, police arrested a 33-year-old man who managed the women. The search is on for eight other women who are believed to be part of the operation.
The suspects have been doing the illicit live streams for three months, earning between IDR6 million (US$390) to IDR15 million (US$975) per session.
They were each charged with distribution of pornographic content online under the Information and Electronic Transactions Act (UU ITE), which carries a maximum punishment of six years in prison or a fine of IDR1 billion (US$65,962).
Despite some recent high profile arrests and the obvious risks to producing adult content in Indonesia, content creators in the country continue to persist, be it for kink, profit or both.
