Christopher crashed his cars into several motorcycles and cars, killing four.
Even though the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) revealed that Pondok Indah car rampage suspect Christopher Daniel Sjarif (23) tested positive for LSD use while he was driving, the South Jakarta Police has not yet made such a statement.
Police Commissioner Aswin, head of Public Relations at the South Jakarta Police, said they have not yet been able to announce Christopher’s results as the South Jakarta Police Chief Grand Commissioner Wahyu Hadiningrat has been busy attending to other matters.
“It won’t be announced [today]. Pak Chief is not here at the moment. Maybe tomorrow afternoon,” Aswin said in the South Jakarta Police headquarters today, as quoted by Kompas.
So what’s the delay all about? After all, the police were so quick to investigate another case that received nationwide coverage – namely the case of KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto.
At the moment, Christopher is only charged with reckless traffic violations that led to the death of others, which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison. Hopefully he won’t be another name added to the list of people who got away with traffic murder because they have wealthy or powerful parents.
