Members of legendary Indonesian punk band Slank were vocal Jokowi supporters during his presidential campaign last year, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the band were to hold a politically charged concert for their fans.
A poster promoting a Slank Concert entitled “Lengserkan DPR” (Bring Down the Parliament) on September 30 has been going around recently, but authorities were quick to point out its inauthenticity.
“The poster is fake. There is no Slank concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on September 30. It’s not true,” said Jakarta Police Spokesman Mohammad Iqbal, as quoted by Okezone yesterday.
Iqbal also confirmed with the band’s management, who said that the band is not scheduled to perform on the date.
The police have not yet identified who released the poster. They’re hoping that the poster’s politically sensitive message, which is asking DPR legislators to step down for being so inept at their jobs, won’t provoke the public
