We’re into our third day of the traffic police’s road discipline enforcing “Operation Patuh Jaya 2015” and thousands of vehicles have already been ticketed for traffic violation in Jakarta.
“The total over the two days of operation is 11,689 traffic tickets. Other than that, there were also motorists who were given warnings, totaling 1,582 people,” said Jakarta Police Spokesman Muhammad Iqbal, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
The police ticketed 183 buses, 966 minivans, 495 taxis, 409 trucks, 1,101 private vehicles, and 8,292 motorcycles.
That’s right. Not a single ticket for the notoriously reckless Bajaj.
We hope that is due to Bajaj drivers actually trying to follow the law as opposed to the police being unable to stop their traffic violations for some reason. If Bajaj drivers have miraculously all of a sudden become disciplined, let’s hope it lasts beyond “Operation Patuh Jaya”.
