The police yesterday arrested a suspect in the murder of parking attendant Asep Suryadi (previously reported as security guard) in the Senayan City mall basement parking lot last Wednesday.
The police managed to hunt down and arrest the suspect, who was identified by his initials AA, in Depok yesterday afternoon.
And just like something out of a CSI episode, the police found strong evidence in the form of AA’s shoe prints at the crime scene, which linked him to the murder.
“From the shoe prints and other pieces of evidence, the suspect couldn’t avoid [being charged for the crime],” said Krishna Murti, director of the Public Crimes Investigation Unit at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Vivanews today.
Another strong piece of evidence against AA was that his motorcycle helmet that was splattered with the victim’s blood.
The police were first led to AA when he appeared in the parking lot’s CCTV footage on the morning of the murder. In the footage, AA was seen driving his motorcycle into Senayan City’s B1 basement parking lot in the early hours of Wednesday.
Though what happened next wasn’t caught on camera, it was suspected that AA went up to a parking payment booth that Asep was guarding and stabbed him three times before making it out with the money kept in the booth.
Despite the strong evidence against him, AA is denying that he murdered Asep. The police are currently interrogating AA before they can file charges against him.
