One hundred and fifty of the Jakarta Police’s finest sharpshooters will be deployed as security officers to Asian-African Conference delegates on April 18-24 in Jakarta and Bandung.
The 150 officers have actually been training for their special task since February this year. They will specifically be tasked with protecting ministers from various countries.
“When ministers come, their security officers will be from the police. As for presidents (and heads of states), [their protection will be provided by] Paspampres (the Presidential Security Detail),” said Mulyadi Kaharni, director of Vital Objects Security at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Warta Kota today.
According to the Foreign Ministry, there will be 104 countries participating in this year’s Asian-African Conference.
