It was widely believed that Dr Randall Cafferty, an American chiropractor suspected of malpractice that led to the death of his patient, Allya Siska Nadya, fled the country soon after Allya passed away last August.
However, after the police reviewed immigration records, it appears that Cafferty might still be in Indonesia after all.
“The latest information we received from immigration is that Dr Randall [Cafferty] hasn’t left Indonesia,” said Grand Commissioner Krishna Murti, director of the Jakarta Metro Police’s Public Crimes Investigation Unit, as quoted by Vivanews yesterday.
“We have requested [that immigration] block [Cafferty’s] potential departure from Indonesia. We hope we find him, he’s already overstayed [his visa] and has not left Indonesia.”
The Jakarta Metro Police previously said they were working with Interpol and FBI to find Cafferty, whom they initially thought has fled to the United States.
Cafferty turns out to have had a troubled professional past, even in his home country. This document shows that in 2013, his license was revoked for 3 years in California for unspecified “unprofessional conduct” and “conviction of a crime”. The timing looks to coincide with his arrival in Indonesia to practice as a chiropractor, albeit without a license.
