The police’s anti-terrorism unit, Densus 88, arrested Aprimul Hendri, a wealthy businessman suspected of being a recruiting agent for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Indonesia.
The Densus 88 unit arrested Aprimul on Saturday evening. They then searched his house for evidence on Sunday afternoon.
It turned out that Aprimul and his family had just moved in to a luxurious new house in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta on January 19.
Densus 88 searched the two-story house and found travel documents to the Middle East as well as books on Jihad.
The head of the Intelligence Unit at Densus 88, Grand Commissioner Ibnu, said Aprimul was suspected of being a fundraiser and a recruiting agent for Indonesians who want to join ISIS.
“There has been 21 departures (Indonesians joining ISIS), including the 16 who are still missing in Turkey,” he said, as quoted by Warta Kota yesterday.
Aprimul, who owns a travel agency, was charged with violating Law no. 15/2013 on Anti-Terrorism and Law no. 9/2013 on Terrorism Funding.
