Hundreds of duped Bon Jovi fans will be glad to know that the scammer who sold them fake tickets to last Friday’s concert is finally behind bars.
“The suspect, who has the initials FG, sold [fake] concert tickets that were cheaper than the official tickets,” said Krishna Murti, director of the Public Crimes Investigation Unit at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.
The police said FG managed to sell 299 fake physical tickets in total, making Rp 306.9 million. It wasn’t revealed how exactly FG sold the tickets.
However, FG is not the scammer who tricked people into buying fake Bon Jovi concert tickets via an authentic-looking website, www.ticketbonjovi.com (the website has finally been taken down). The police say that the online scammers are still out there, even after they sold hundreds of fake tickets and made over a hundred million rupiah.
All the fake concert tickets actually caused a small riot at the Bon Jovi concert on Friday. Hundreds of people who claimed they bought fake tickets reportedly barged through a gate at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium during the concert.
A crowd of 40,000 reportedly attended the concert on Friday.
