Police arrest Go-Jek driver working as a drug courier on the side

Part of JK’s day job as a Go-Jek driver required him to transport legal goods around the city for customers. But besides his online ojek job, it turns out he he was also transporting illegal narcotics as part of a drug trafficking ring.

The East Jakarta Police on Sunday arrested five men, including JK, for trafficking and possession of methamphetamine.

The police first arrested a buyer, identified by his initials AJ, at a boarding house in Cakung, East Jakarta. AJ’s arrest then led to the arrests of three traffickers, including JK, who was driving his partner AG who had 1.07 grams of methamphetamine on him.

“The meth was obtained from JK who was dropping off AG so he could carry out a transaction with his customer,” said East Jakarta Police Chief Grand Commissioner Agung Budijono, as quoted by BeritaSatu yesterday.

Yesterday, the police managed to locate and arrest their supplier, TK, in Senen, Central Jakarta. TK was found to have over 70 grams of meth in his possession.

All those arrested may face a minimum sentence of life in prison or worse, the death penalty, for drug trafficking.
