The disturbing news about viral videos showing two elementary school boys having sex with an adult woman last week has taken an even more troubling turn after the West Java Police revealed the identities of the people suspected of being involved in the making of the videos.
During a press conference today, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Agung Budi Maryoto revealed that there were actually three boys in the two videos, though only two performed sexual acts, and that there were two women, both karaoke attendants, who were hired to perform in the videos.
The police have arrested five people behind the videos, which include the director, the two karaoke attendants, as well as the two boys’ mothers for allegedly pimping out their sons.
One of the mothers, identified by her initial S, was in the room when her underage son, who was identified as 9-year-old DN, was having sex with one of the karaoke attendants.
“The victim DN was crying because he did not want to be filmed. So then the culprit (director) asked the female performer to call the (boy’s) mother to come to the hotel. In the hotel, the mother gave (the boy) instructions,” Agung said, as quoted by Detik today.
The police said S also called DN’s close friend, 11-year-old SP, to come to the hotel room in order to be a calming presence for his friend.
The other video showed a 9-year-old identified as RD performing sexual acts with the other karaoke attendant. His mother, identified as H, was also at the hotel where the video was being shot but waited in the lobby.
All three of the boys reportedly came from low income families and one of them no longer goes to school. They are being treated as statutory rape victims in this case.
The police said that the idea for the videos was conceived by the director, identified by the initials MFA, who operated the camera for both scenes. MFA admitted that he shot the videos to be sold to a buyer from Russia. The police are looking into the possibility that MFA is part of a larger pedophilia syndicate.
The charges against all of the suspects have not been announced, though it’s likely MFA and the karaoke attendants will at least be charged with sexual abuse of minors under Indonesia’s child protection laws, which is punishable by up to 15 years’ imprisonment. As for the mothers, they may be charged with sexual abuse under the same laws, but could face additional punishment of up to 5 years’ imprisonment as the victims were their own children.
