Giving guns to people with anger management issues usually doesn’t work out well.
Jakarta Metro Police have detained an officer, identified by the initials DR, after an incident that took place in Mampang, South Jakarta, yesterday morning. Jakarta Police spokesman, Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal, detailed the events leading up to the incident to reporters today.
At around 8am, DR was traveling down Jalan Mampang Prapatan Raya on a motorcycle with his wife. He was passing in front of a Blue Bird taxi pool when a Blue Bird security guard stopped DR and other vehicles to allow some taxis to exit the pool.
DR attempted to pass anyways, and the the security guard warned him that he could get get run over. DR, offended by the guard’s words replied. ‘Hey, if you’re going to talk like that you better be careful.”
After that, DR parked his motorcycle in front of the Blue Bird office, got off and walked over to the security guard and pointed his police-issued pistol at him. The Blue Bird guard then tried to grab DR’s pistol and point it away from him. .
At this point, DR’s pistol fired a shot because the police officer had already cocked the gun. Fortunately the pistol shot into the ground and nobody was injured.
More Blue Bird security officers came over to help secure DR in their office. Once they found out that DR was a police officer, the security guards contacted the police.
Iqbal did not disclose what kind of disciplinary action DR could face for his actions. We hope he gets kicked off the force, but at the very least they better take away his gun.
