Photos: The horrific aftermath of heavy turbulence on a Thai Airways Jakarta-Bangkok flight

On Monday, six people – five passengers and one crew member – were injured after a Thai Airways flight from Jakarta to Bangkok hit severe turbulence over Singaporean airspace.

The plane landed safely in Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on Monday afternoon and the six injured were sent to hospital.

A couple of photos have emerged from the incident showing the shocking aftermath of the severe turbulence in the plane’s cabin.

Kompas reported that the uploader, who went by Kru P’Birth on Facebook, was a crew member on that flight. The Facebook post detailed that one male Middle Eastern passenger was injured because he didn’t buckle up during the turbulence, while Yahoo 7 News reported that the very same passenger knocked his head on the plane’s ceiling.

The Facebook account was reportedly deleted on Tuesday, some time before Thai Airways President Charamporn Jotikasthira released an official statement.

“The company has paid all medical expenses for the injured passengers and crew. All who were treated were discharged from the hospital,” he said.
