Yesterday, police announced the July 3 arrest of a Tangerang City Councilor for possession and use of methamphetamines.
Police did not name the politician but it was later revealed that he was Pabuadi, a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the political party of President Joko Widodo.
The scandalous news was revealed by Hendri Zein, the chairman of the PDI-P caucus at the Tangerang City Council.
“I have received the information on the case. I have direct communication with the West Jakarta Police so we heard that Pabuadi was arrested by police on Friday,” Hendri said yesterday as quoted by Tribunnews.
Hendri said that the party would take decisive action and fire Pabudi, after he has been proved legally guilty.
“We will immediately fire him (if he’s proven guilty). His position as a member of the city council and member of the party will also be terminated,” Hendri said.
Police had already announced that Pabudi had tested positive for methamphetamine use and confessed that he took the drug regularly.
