Parents of kidnapped 6-year-old girl receiving threatening text messages and phone calls

Sintya Hermawan was kidnapped from Pusat Grosir Cilitan on Saturday, July 18

Even though 6-year-old Sintya Hermawan was returned home yesterday morning after being kidnapped, her parents still have to deal with a different kind of nightmare.

Sintya’s parents, Ridwan and Siti Ermawati, spread posters of their kidnapped child when she was missing. Their contact details were written on the posters.

Now, they’re receiving threats from strangers in the form of text messages and phone calls.

“Many expressed their worry [about Sintya], but there are also those who sent threats, asking for ransom and even terrorizing. Some even admitted to being the kidnapper,” Ridwan said today, as quoted by Kompas

One text message Ridwan received yesterday reads:

You’re lucky your child arrived home safely. If not, I would’ve sold her abroad. So if you have a child, keep a close eye on her. Don’t be like a dog that can’t take care of its children.

Another text message Ridwan received is downright scary, considering what the family just went through:

I have returned your child, but I will take her again. As a token of appreciation for my returning your child, you can send phone credit or cash.

Sintya went missing on Saturday afternoon at Pusat Grosir Cililitan (PGC). CCTV records showed that she left the mall with an unidentified man. She was returned home safely yesterday, while the police have not yet been able to locate the kidnapper.
