Indonesia has achieved quite the feat in the battle against COVID-19 with more than 100 million of its population now fully vaccinated, thus putting the country first among its Southeast Asian neighbors.

In less than a year, Indonesia has managed to fully vaccinate more than 100 million people, or about 36 percent of the total population, according to this week’s data from Indonesia’s Health Ministry. Officials said the country is getting closer to reaching half of the targeted 208.2 million people, and is well on its way to achieve the vaccination goal by March or April next year.

Indonesia is presently categorized as a low-risk country in terms of COVID-19 transmission by the US’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to data compiled by scientific publication Our World in Data, Indonesia is ranked first in Southeast Asia on a list of countries with the highest number of people who have gotten both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

At least 99.83 million Indonesian citizens are fully vaccinated, followed by other Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam (55.01 million), Thailand (42,47 million), the Philippines (38.7 million) as of Monday, and Malaysia (25.45 million).

It’s worth noting that Our World in Data’s list is based on the number of vaccinated citizens and not the vaccination rate, and as such did not highlight Singapore — which has fully vaccinated 87 percent of its population, according to estimates from their Ministry of Health.

At the global level, Indonesia is ranked fifth, where China leads with 1.13 billion as of Dec. 3, followed by India (486.56 million), US (198.16 million), and Brazil (137.91 million).
