Operation Zebra report: Motorcycles once again dominate traffic violations in Jakarta

Traffic violations are on the rise as according to data collected during the second day of Operation Zebra yesterday. Motorcycles once again dominate the chart with 3,418 traffic violations in Jakarta in two days.

“Motorcycle violations are the highest compared to other vehicles because there are more motorcycles on the road compared to other vehicles,” said Rikwanto, Head of Public Relations at the Jakarta Police today, as quoted by Detik

From a total of 6,075 violations in two days, the police ticketed 4,764 motorists while 1,311 escaped with a warning.

Motorcycles driving against the flow of traffic is the violation with the highest number of offenders, with 1,085.

The police have, up to yesterday, confiscated 1,666 drivers’ licenses, 3,036 vehicle registrations, 57 motorcycles and 5 cars.And they’ve only just begun. Operation Zebra will last until December 9.
