OLX pokes fun at Lazada’s iPhone/soap mix-up with meme

Twitter user @danisdarusman claims he ordered an iPhone 6 from Lazada, but was shipped this bar of soap instead.

Online classifieds marketplace OLX couldn’t resist poking fun at their competitor, online shop Lazada, after they apparently sent a bar of soap instead of an iPhone 6 to a customer recently.

OLX encourages the cash on delivery (COD) payment system between buyers and sellers who use their service. With COD, there’s no way a similar mishap could’ve happened for OLX users, or so they claim.

And they made a meme about it, too.

But it seems their not-so-subtle joke backfired, as some Twitter users replied by reporting their problems with COD:

e-commerce still using COD? What era is this?

Whatever, my dad bought rims through OLX and was scammed Rp 2 million

How does COD work if [buyer and seller] live in different regions?

It’s good to see large corporations having a bit of fun and not taking things too seriously from time to time. Both OLX and Lazada have their advantages and disadvantages, so it’s up to you to know the risks before you order goods online.
