For better or worse (perhaps worse if you’ve been enjoying working from Bali, for example), prepare to meet with your office mates with more regularity as capacity restrictions on workplaces have been abolished in Jakarta.
The government yesterday lowered Greater Jakarta Area’s Enforcement of Restrictions on Public Activities (PPKM) protocol from Level 2 to Level 1 amid low number of COVID-19 infections.
Under Level 1 PPKM, offices are allowed to operate at full capacity. However, all work from office (WFO) staff must be fully-vaccinated and must check in at their workplace using the mobility tracking app PeduliLindungi. Previously, under Level 2 PPKM, offices were limited to 75 percent capacity.
Capacity restrictions have also been lifted for other venues and activities under Level 1 PPKM, including:
- Malls and supermarkets
- Cinemas
- Restaurants
- Houses of worship
- Public transportation
To sum it up, Level 1 PPKM is pretty much no PPKM whatsoever, but citizens can only fully enjoy restriction-free life if they’re fully-vaccinated. PeduliLindungi also plays an important part, but few venues are really stringent about screening people these days, anyway.
Here’s hoping we won’t see PPKM’s level raised in the future, in Jakarta and all throughout Indonesia. Can we get an amen?
