Cinemaxx theater in Plaza Semanggi
We were wondering what happened to the XXI Cinema theaters at FX Sudirman and Plaza Semanggi. Turns out, they were bought out by an ambitious new cinema chain, Cinemaxx.
Cinemaxx, under Lippo Group, is aiming to bring state-of-the-art movie theaters across Indonesia.
“[We’ll have] 2000 screens in 300 locations spread across 85 cities in Indonesia,” said Cinemax CEO Brian Riady at a press conference, as quoted by wartakota.com, on Tuesday.
Riady claims movie theaters in Indonesia are quite underdeveloped. At the moment, there are only 900 cinema screens across Indonesia. Cinemaxx aims to be the biggest theater chain in the country.
“Our system is 100% digital. Audiences will be able to immerse themselves in 2D and 3D films, as well as documentaries with unparalleled video sharpness and audio power,” he continued.
Cinemaxx is now open in FX Sudirman and Plaza Semanggi in Jakarta, as well as one in Palembang Icon mall in Palembang. To celebrate their opening, Cinemaxx is offering a number of promotions, including Rp 30,000 tickets on weekdays.
