Thanks to Indonesia’s harsh anti-pornography laws, a mother may face a lengthy prison sentence for uploading adult content of herself for income.
Police in Garut, West Java have arrested DC, a 20-year-old woman, after she was accused of selling her sex videos via social media.
DC, who police say is a mother of one, has been charged with violations to Indonesia’s Pornography Law and the Information and Electronic Transactions Act (UU ITE).
“She may face a punishment of up to 12 years in prison and an IDR1 billion (US$67,250),” Garut Police Chief Wirdhanto Hadicaksono said in a press conference today.
Wirdhanto said police received tips from the public about her illegal activities. They arrested her at an apartment in Bandung, West Java’s capital.
Taking a cue out of adult content creators from platforms like OnlyFans, police said DC live streamed sexually suggestive videos featuring herself on social media platforms. Those who wished to see more were able to gain access to private, more intimate videos upon transferring money to her.
DC had been in this line of work for around 2 months before her capture.
Indonesian adult content creators face the very real threat of prosecution due to the country’s draconian laws prohibiting pornography. Perhaps the most high-profile recent bust was that of OnlyFans creator @gresaids in March, whose decision to not obscure her online identity — as many Indonesian adult content creators do — and her rising popularity put her in the police’s crosshairs.
