More road closures this afternoon, roads going to Halim Airport closed tomorrow morning and evening

This long, macet maddening week is almost over, but you had best be prepared to make some more traffic sacrifices for the vehicular convenience of the foreign VIPs attending the Asian-African Conference.

Police have announced that they are monitoring Jakarta’s major roads and will close them on a situational basis this evening from about 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, which is when delegates will be returning to their hotels after the conference. These closure will likely affect Sudirman, Thamrin, Rasuna Said, Gatot Subroto and the roads around Senayan  and Blok M.

Fortunately for most of us, the main Asian-African Conference events are moving to Bandung tomorrow for the conference’s 60th Anniversary celebration. Unfortunately, that means the movement of more VIPs meaning more road closures.

Many of the delegates will actually fly to Bandung from Jakarta’s Halim Airport tomorrow morning at 7:30 am on the presidential plane

Police said to expect road closures starting at 6:10 am, which will affect roads around Senayan, Sudirman, Kuningan and Semanggi.

Those roads will be closed again starting at around 3pm for when guests arrive back at Halim after the ceremonies in Bandung have finished. Roads will be closed on a situational basis throughout the evening.

Just keep telling yourself, “This week is almost over…”
