Danny Ashri Fajar Purba, a 21-year-old student at Universitas Indonesia (UI) who studies Arabic literature, was reported missing on January 15. Because of the sudden and mysterious nature of his disappearance, many people, including Danny’s own mother, though he might have gone overseas to join a terrorist group like ISIS.
Well now we find out that Danny didn’t go to the Middle East to fight for extremists, he went west on holiday while everybody worried about him.
Depok City Police Chief Commissioner Ahmad Subarkah said Danny had simply gone on vacation to Yogyakarta and Bali. Currently, he is at his parents’ house in Palembang, South Sumatra.
“They’ve met their son. He’s at home in Palembang, where his father lives. So he while he was ‘missing’ he was actually in Bali and Yogyakarta. So its not related to radical movements,” said Subarkah in Depok today, as quoted by Kompas.
Subarkah said he did not know why Danny went on vacation or why he neglected to tell anybody, especially his mother, about his trip. He said Danny’s father knew where exactly the 21-year-old had been and said the UI student had already been at his home in Palembang for weeks.
