Miss Indonesia Elvira won’t ask police to investigate fake photos of her with KPK Chief Abraham Samad

With everything that has gone on between the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) and the National Police recently, it’s hard to remember that one of the opening salvos in their battle were the photos of what appeared to be KPK Chief Abraham Samad with Miss Indonesia winner Elvira Devinamira. Those photos were leaked to the press the day after the KPK announced that the sole candidate for the National Police Chief position, Budi Gunawan, was officially a suspect in a corruption case.

Most people agreed the photos of Elvira and Abraham were photoshopped and forgot about it while trying to keep up with all the other twists and turns in the KPK vs Police battle (including more possibly fake photos of Abraham with another woman).

But Elvira, who just returned to Indonesia from a successful run at the Miss Universe pageant in Miami, was still  worried about having to face accusations about the photos back home.

“I felt anxious, afraid of what people would thinking about me, but you can not judge me,” Elvira told Detik yesterday.

But Elvira said she would try to not let the incident keep her down.

“It’s just a challenge for me, to make me into a tougher woman. It will motivate me to be better. I leave it to the authorities, but I do not want to turn it into a legal matter, it’s a waste of my time,” Elvira said.

It probably would be a waste of time bringing the matter to the police, since it’s likely somebody connected to the police were behind the photos to begin with. Still, we’d really like to know what the going rate is for photoshopping pictures well enough to create a national controversy…
