Meet Blu-jek, the motorcycle taxi hailing company *not* affiliated with Blue Bird

If you’ve recently received an ad on social media regarding a job with Blu-jek, which the ad claims to be affiliated with the Blue Bird taxi group, disregard the ad immediately.

Blue Bird Spokesman Teguh Wijayanto denied that the popular taxi company has anything to do with Blu-jek, despite similarities in their name. He claims Blue Bird is not entering the ojek motorcycle taxi market because ojeks are operating outside government regulations.

“If there are people who use our company’s brand name to provide ojek service, then that information is incorrect and is not our responsibility,” Teguh wrote to Kompas yesterday.

We haven’t seen any Blu-jek ojeks on the road and the only sign of existence of Blu-jek online so far seems to be this recently created Facebook page. Even with that, we question its authenticity. An announcement on the page says that Blu-jek is launching their service on September 12, and that they have already employed 3,000 drivers.

Blu-jek Marketing Commercial Officer Arlingga Putranto confirmed the existence of the new motorcycle taxi company. He also clarified that Blu-jek is not affiliated with Blue Bird.

“It’s true that many thought we were from Blue Bird, but we’re not. We’re our own company,” he told Kompas.

Perhaps Blu-jek is banking on leeching off the accidental association with the universally trusted Blue Bird to help them launch their start up. We wouldn’t be surprised if their drivers’ helmets and jackets are the same sky blue as Blue Bird taxis.
