Margo City shopping center in Depok is closed today after a fire broke out on the northern end of the building on Sunday afternoon.

The police shut down all operations in Margo City yesterday in order to carry out an investigation.

“We want to figure out how the fire began, so the scene of the fire has to be sterile. Other stores that weren’t affected by the fire can be open [on Monday],” said Ahmad Subarkah, head of the Depok Police, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.

Despite assurances from the police, Margo City remains closed today as a police line is still blocking the main entrance to the shopping center. The Margo City management is expected to give a press conference later today regarding the fire.

The fire was thought to have started from the kitchen at a NAV Karaoke chain on the second floor. It then spread to two other stores nearby.

The police confirmed that there were no casualties from the fire.
