Twenty-five-year-old Sadikin murdered his 20-year-old girlfriend, Farida in Kembangan, West Jakarta on Saturday.
Sadikin said he he had gotten drunk before he killed Farida.
“I drank a few glasses of red wine before I went home,” Sadikin said at the Kembangan Police station, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
Earlier on Saturday, Farida and Sadikin had gotten into a heated argument. Farida, who is a widow with one child, was asking Sadikin to marry her. But Sadikin wasn’t ready to commit.
Sadikin, who was drinking at this point, went home to grab a dagger. He located Farida in an alleyway and stabbed her, despite his lover pleading for her life.
“I was aware that I was stabbing her,” Sadikin said.
Sadikin then left Farida for dead. Soon after, some locals found Farida lying in a pool of her own blood and immediately brought her to the Puri Indah Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital couldn’t save her.
The police arrested Sadikin as he was trying to run away. He could face up to 7 years in prison for his crime.
