Simon Cokro (27) committed suicide by jumping out of the 8th floor of his parents’ apartment in Laguna Pluit, Penjaringan, North Jakarta on Thursday.
Kus, a witness to the incident, said Simon came to visit his parents but his parents didn’t immediately open the apartment door for him.
“So his parents were mopping the floor. The victim asked to open the door, but the parents told him to wait a moment. But the victim became upset and threatened to commit suicide,” Kus said, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
Simon’s parents thought it was just an empty threat. When they finally let him in, Simon was still upset and immediately jumped out of a bedroom window.
Simon’s fall was somewhat softened by a net on the first floor of the apartment building before he fell to the ground. Even so, he suffered from several broken bones and his head received so much trauma that he passed away while being treated at the Pluit Hospital.
It has not yet been revealed if Simon had a history of mental health issues.
