A man in Singkawang, West Kalimantan has lost his right arm after he unknowingly dipped it in a crocodile dwelling at a zoo.
Ilham, 49, was driving tourists through Sinka Zoo on Wednesday afternoon when he had to get out and change the car’s tire.
Once he was done, he walked over to a nearby pond to wash his hands, oblivious to the fact that it was home to one of the zoo’s crocodiles.
The croc pounced out of the water towards Ilham, managing to bite a huge chunk of his right arm. One witness said that Ilham’s arm was severed while he struggled to pull away from the reptile.
The same witness also said that there was no sign indicating that the pond contained a deadly predator.
Ilham was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police say they have launched an investigation into the incident.
