Man fakes divorce papers to convince mistress, gets caught in police raid

One man probably thought he could keep stringing his mistress along by making fake divorce papers to convince her that she was the one (after the previous ‘the one’, of course).

But karma was having none of that and landed a proverbial striking blow to his jaw.

The unnamed liar definitely got his comeuppance when he was caught in a police operation on Saturday, during which 23 producers and customers of a document forgery ring were arrested.

“This ‘official’ letter was intended to be shown to his mistress that he is divorced, except he actually hasn’t,” said Herry Heryawan of the Public Crimes Investigation Unit at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Tempo on Saturday.

On the day, the police raided a kiosk in Pasar Pramuka, Salemba, Central Jakarta, after suspecting that it produced forged documents. The forgers were able to make all sorts of fake official documents such as KTPs, diplomas, house certificates, and, evidently, divorce papers.

The police were able to uncover this case as the forgers were linked to the ‘Mama minta pulsa’ scam syndicate, whose boss was arrested earlier this month.

It’s not yet clear what criminal charges the document forgers and their customers are going to face. But we can safely assume that the man who wanted to fake divorce papers is probably going to be handed real ones soon.
